THE COUNCIL FOR EDUCATIONAL CHANGE is a statewide, 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to focus on LEADERSHIP to improve student achievement and address critical education issues.

Since its start, the Council for Educational Change has made remarkable strides.Here are a few accomplishments to-date:

Held the Summer Leadership Academy™ and Follow-up Regional Academy for more than 160 Principals, Assistant Principals and Teacher Leaders from schools throughout Florida to strengthen leadership skills.

Ongoing evaluation is a required element for all Council for Educational Change initiatives.

The Council for Educational Change is the successor organization of the South Florida Annenberg Challenge initiative. The public private $100 million initiative funded 102 innovative grant programs in the tri-county area, serving 378 schools, more than 280,000 students, 15,000 teachers and more than 2,000 school and district leadership staff.

From the emerging South Florida Annenberg Challenge results and experience, the Council for Educational Change has chosen its focus areas to maximize its impact on educational improvement and student performance. The Council had its first Board and organizational meeting on January 17, 2003. We are indeed fortunate to have the continuing support and insight of leaders around the state, particularly the business community.

The Annenberg Foundation and other philanthropic sources support the Council's work.
