Each PASS school has the freedom to create a School Improvement Plan
designed to result in improved student performance over the next three
years. The desired outcome is to move that PASS school from a "D"
grade to a "C" or better and ultimately to an "A".
While each school customizes the PASS model, all partnerships share
a number of characteristics:
- Each principal of a PASS school has two supportive colleagues
- a CEO with management and leadership experience and a coach
with an educational change background.
- Each PASS school examines its current status, decides where
it needs to go, and begins the process of marshalling its resources
to move the organization toward its goals.
- Each PASS model is unique, reflecting the capabilities and needs
of the school, the community, and the personnel involved.
- Each PASS school changes itself as it continues its day-to-day
operations, an approach called "reengineering-in-place"
by the business community.
- The PASS effort retains the positive attributes already held
by the school, the district, the community, and its personnel.
Schools in the PASS program receive funding from the company of the
CEO/mentor, the local school district, state grants, and other private
sources. These discretionary funds are used to implement strategies
developed by the PASS team to boost student achievement, in areas
such as data analysis, staff development, coaching and improvement
incentives. |
